Welcome to Inbox, our weekly round-up of whisky news and PR material that has found its way into our WFE email. Inbox features items from around the world of whisky and is published by us each Friday. Here is this week’s whisky news.

Glendronach

The Highland distillery of Glendronach has announced a new permanent range of three whiskies that will be exclusive to the travel retail sector. The Glendronach House Editions are a trio of single malts that celebrate European cities and the distillery’s use of ex-sherry casks, but with a twist. The three new whiskies will sit alongside two other travel retail exclusive single malts – the Glendronach Forgue 10 Years Old and Boynsmill 16 Years Old.

The House Editions have been created by Dr. Rachel Barrie, the Master Blender for Glendronach. The Sevillian Room has been matured in a combination of ex-Oloroso, ex-Pedro Ximénez and ex-Palo Cortado casks. It is bottled at 43% ABV and will cost £70/ US$90. The Venetian Room was matured in ex-Oloroso and ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and ex-Amarone wine casks. This is released at 46% ABV and will cost £80/ US$105. The Parisian Room uses both ex-Oloroso and ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, plus ex-Cognac barrels for maturation. It is bottled at 49% ABV and will cost £90/ US$125.

The new whiskies will launch in major European airports in July. Asia, India, the Middle East and other world markets will follow shortly after. The roll-out will culminate in a full international activation by October 2026. The Glendronach House Editions are part of the Aberdeenshire distillery’s 200th anniversary celebrations.

Glenmorangie

The north Highland distillery of Glenmorangie has released a new limited edition single malt in collaboration with Hollywood legend Harrison Ford. The release is part of the brand’s ongoing partnership with the actor. The Glenmorangie Harrison Ford Edition saw Ford working alongside Dr. Bill Lumsden MBE, the Director of Whisky Creation at Glenmorangie, and has been crafted to fit both of their tastes.

The new whisky has united classic ex-bourbon cask-aged Glenmorangie with a parcel of rare whisky finished in toasted ex-red wine casks sourced from Portugal. It is bottled at 46.5% ABV and is both non-chill filtered and of natural colour. The exact number of bottles has not been revealed but they are available now via glenmorangie.com, at the distillery visitor centre in the Highlands and through specialist whisky retailers globally. A bottle will cost £75/ €85/ US$100.

It’s nice. It’s very nice.

Inverurie

The Inverurie distillery, which is the concept of founder Jonathan Dunne, will open its gates to the public tomorrow (May 16). The project is being developed inside the historic listed Fetternear Home Farm stables buildings, which sit within the Fetternear Estate. The history of the estate dates to 640 AD and was the home of monks from the mid-1100s. The open day will give the public the first preview of plans to create a true single-estate whisky distillery.

The business model and plans are estate-led. This will include the use of estate-grown and locally sourced barley, on-site production, local energy generation, a future maltings facility and cooperage. All cask filling, maturation and bottling will also take place on the estate. The future distillery and estate are located close to the village of Kemnay near Inverurie in Aberdeenshire.
