Bruichladdich

Bruichladdich has revived one of its iconic bottlings to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Islay distillery’s resurrection. The new whisky is the third iteration of their Yellow Submarine bottling. The Bruichladdich Yellow Submarine III follows Whisky of Mass Distinction: Yellow Submarine (2005) and Yellow Submarine II: The Legend Resurfaces (2018).

Yellow Submarine III is unpeated and distilled from 100% Scottish barley grown on the mainland. The whisky has spent its full 14-year maturation at the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay. The cask recipe is inspired by the original 2005 bottling: 25% first fill ex-bourbon barrels and 75% first- and second-fill ex-French red wine casks.

Bruichladdich Yellow Submarine III is bottled at 54.2% ABV and is both non-chill filtered and of natural colour. Bottles are available in specialist retailers in selected world markets, via bruichladdich.com and at the distillery visitor centre shop. The exact number of bottles in the batch was not revealed in the press release. Each bottle will cost £100.

Isle of Raasay

The Isle of Raasay distillery has launched one of its most ambitious single cask bottlings to date. The Isle of Raasay Rye Cask 3.4 x Distilled showcases the distillery’s progressive production techniques alongside its approach to maturation and flavour development. The single cask (Cask #2019/649) was filled with unpeated spirit that was distilled 3.4 times through a column still in 2019. It was a cask that had previously held rye whiskey from Woodford Reserve.

The cask was selected by Alasdair Day, the co-founder and Master Distiller at Isle of Raasay distillery. It has yielded just 246 bottles. Bottles are available via the Isle of Raasay Distillery website with each costing £95.

London Distillery Co.

The London Distillery Co. has announced a new series that will expand the brand’s offering. New Forms will be a series of single cask single malts that explore the versatility and evolution of the distillery’s original spirit. This is through the use of cask finishes never previously employed by the original distillery. All will be bottled at natural cask strength and have been selected by Matt McKay, Managing Director & Whisky Maker at LDC.
