The Borders
The Borders distillery has launched the fourth and final part of its blended Workshop Series. The Borders Deep Time is inspired by the pioneering Scottish geologist and farmer James Hutton, and marks 300 years since his birth. The Workshop Series has given the distillery, which is based in the Lowland town of Hawick, the freedom to experiment with flavour, cask combinations and distillation techniques while laying the foundations for their future single malt releases.
The Borders Deep Time uses the same batch of spirit distilled for the inaugural Workshop Series bottling, which was released in 2019. It demonstrates the influence of maturation and how the spirit has evolved over time. Deep Time is released at 40% ABV and is limited to just 750 bottles. It is available via the distillery website and shop, plus selected specialist retailers in the UK.
Glenfiddich
The leading Scotch single malt brand of Glenfiddich has announced its latest bottling in collaboration with Aston Martin. The Glenfiddich & Aston Martin Formula One Team 16-Year-Old Release No.2 has seen Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman team up with Aston Martin Formula One Managing Technical Partner, Adrian Newey. It follows two whiskies from the partnership last year – a 16 Years Old and 19 Years Old, which was exclusive to travel retail.
The cask make up of Release No.2 is different to 2025’s 16 Years Old. Five cask types have been used: first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, ex-Port pipes, ex-Oloroso sherry casks, ex-red wine casks and ex-Fino sherry butts. The 16 Years Old Release No.2 is bottled at 43% ABV. It is available initially in the UK from selected retailers including Master of Malt and Selfridges. The exact number of bottles in the limited edition has not been specified. Each will cost £75/ US$100.
The Macallan
The popular Speyside single malt brand of The Macallan has launched the final chapter of its popular limited edition Harmony Collection. The sixth and concluding release features two whiskies: The Macallan Harmony Collection Inspired by Fresh Coconut and Inspired by Toasted Coconut. Through precise cask selection and maturation the team has skilfully drawn forward nuanced coconut characteristics rarely present in The Macallan.
The whiskies are matured in a combination of sherry seasoned American oak casks and casks that previously held bourbon. The natural properties of American oak heighten the presence of coconut notes. Both whiskies have been created by Kirsteen Campbell, Master Whisky Maker at The Macallan.
Inspired by Fresh Coconut will be available to selected domestic markets. In the UK this includes The Macallan Boutique at Harrods, Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason and The Whisky Shop. Inspired by Toasted Coconut is available through travel retail channels globally. Both whiskies are released at 46.3% ABV and are non-chill filtered and of natural colour. Both will cost £140.
