Kilchoman
The farm-to-bottle family owned Islay distillery of Kilchoman has released the first bottlings in a new series – the Kilchoman Family Collection. This is a celebration of the distillery and the Wills family who founded it. Each bottling was selected by one of of Kilchoman’s founding family, with the idea of bringing together distinctive choices that reflect their personal tastes, shared passion, and the developing character of Kilchoman. It is planned to have new bottlings in the collection annually.
The four bottlings are headlined by the Family Collection 20 Years Old, which is the oldest release from Kilchoman to date. This is released at 49.9% ABV. It is joined by age statements at 11-, 14- and 18 Years Old. These are bottled at 54.7%, 50.9% and 50% ABV respectively. The Family Collection 14 Years Old is a 100% Islay expression featuring barley grown on the distillery;s Rockside Farm. All are non-chill filtered and of natural colour. They feature ex-bourbon and ex-sherry cask maturation. Exact number and the prices were not revealed in the press release.

Rare Find
The award-winning independent bottler Rare Find has released three single casks, all from the Highland coastal distillery of Glenglassaugh. The trio is designed to show how different casks can reveal different charcateristics of Glenglassaugh’s expressive single malt spirit. Details of the three whiskies are listed below:
- 9 Years Old Glenglassaugh/ finished for 11 months in a 1st-fill ex-Ruby Port octave/ 52.2% ABV/ 48 bottles
- 9 Years Old Glenglassaugh/ finished for 11 months in a 1stfill ex-Madeira octave/ 52.7% ABV/ 53 bottles
- 10 Years Old Glenglassaugh/ finished for 19 months in a 1st-fill ex-rum barrel from Foursquare distillery/ 54.6% ABV/ 234 bottles.
The Rare Find Glenglassaugh Collection will be available from selected specialist whisky retailers in the UK from July 30. All are bottled at their natural cask strength and are both non-chill filtered and of natural colour. Each bottle will cost £79
Royal Salute
The super premium blended Scotch brand of Royal Salute has launched a new travel retail series of whiskies that will be exclusive to the Asian region. The Royal Salute Small Batch Collection kicks off with Batch 001 27 Years Old and Batch 008 25 Years Old. Both have been created by Sandy Hyslop, the now-retired Master Blender of Royal Salute.
Batch 001 27 Years Old has seen part-maturation of the blend in first-fill ex-American rye whiskey barrels. It will be available throughout travel retail outlets in the Asia region. Batch 008 25 Years Old has seen the blend married in ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry casks for its final period of maturation. This whisky will only be available in Taiwan. Both are released at 40% ABV. The exact number in each batch and the prices were not revealed in the press release.
