That Boutique-y Whisky Company is renowned as an independent bottler, known for its often quirky labels. They specialise in sourcing and bottling rare, unique and often unorthodox whiskies from a variety of distilleries around the world. Alongside these limited edition releases is their core collection.
These two bottles are joining that collection alongside other classic styles of whisky, like a Canadian corn, an English rye, blended and single malt Scotches, and a world whisky blend. These are all crafted in small batches of around 1,000 bottles with all having natural colour and no chill filtration.

That Boutique-y Whisky Company was founded in 2012 by Ben Ellefsen. He is the Managing Director of Atom Brands – the company behind That Boutique-y Whisky Company. It is storied that Ben attended the Maltstock festival in 2012 armed with a handful of bottles of single malts, which fuelled the origins of the brand.
TBWC labels are a talking point for the brand thanks to their playfulness. Designed by illustration artist Emily Chappell, each label features a hand-drawn cartoon style visual depiction of the liquid inside, the place or people involved in its production, or just something to make a whisky drinker smile.
Our Tasting Notes
American Bourbon 10 Years Old
Small Batch | 45.8% ABV | £59.95

This is a classic Kentucky straight bourbon made with 77% corn mashbill and is aged in deeply charred American oak barrels. Its label features the North American bison and a playful riff at a rather well known American whiskey’s logo. This whiskey has all the expected bourbon characteristics for something of increased age – cherries, vanilla, coconut, milk chocolate and golden syrup. It is silky and velvety and a really good example of what an aged bourbon should taste like.
Irish 21 Years Old
Small Batch | 45.8% ABV | £99.95

This is a small batch blended Irish whiskey that has been matured in ex-bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks. The label features the Connemara Pony (Capaillín Chonamara in Irish Gaelic) in front of a shamrock green background plus touches of orange. This whiskey is aromatic with honey and vanilla plus toasted coconut and oak. It has bold peach and apricot fruitiness. There is an underlying earthy malt with a touch of peppery spice. The finish is long and lingering with plenty of wood spices at the end.
What’s The Verdict?
The core range from That Boutique-y Whisky Company is a really solid example of the quality of whisky that they select to bottle. While not being the cheapest example of each style of whiskey, they are really reasonably priced for premium ‘every day’ enjoyable whiskies. They also look the part thanks to their bold labels and are a very enjoyable bottles to add to your collection.
