Kilchoman
The independent Islay farm distillery of Kilchoman have announced a new limited edition bottling – the Kilchoman Sanaig Cask Strength. The new whisky follows exactly the same recipe as the core range version of Sanaig, which was first released in 2016 and features a heavy influence of ex-Oloroso sherry casks sourced from José y Miguel Martín bodega in Spain.
The Kilchoman Sanaig Cask Strength has been released at the natural barrel strength of 57.8% ABV and is both non-chill filtered and of natural colour. The exact number of bottles has not been revealed but they will be available in the UK and Europe. A bottle will cost £77.
The Macallan
The Macallan has concluded its 200th anniversary celebrations with one final release – The Macallan: A Night on Earth in Jerez de la Frontera. The bottling is the third release into the A Night on Earth series. The new whisky features both American and European oak ex-sherry casks and is inspired by the sherry producing town of Jerez in southern Spain.
The packaging features a collaboration with María Melero, an artist native to Jerez. She has used her hometown and its Christmas and New Year festivities as inspiration. The whisky is released at 43% ABV and the exact number of bottles has not been revealed. It is initially available in the UK before receiving a limited world release in selected markets. A bottle will cost £110.
