Eden Mill
The independent Scottish distillery of Eden Mill has announced the first bottling in a new series of rare single cask single malts – the Eden Mill Pedro Ximénez Single Cask.
The whisky has been maturing in a single European oak cask, sourced from the famous sherry city of Jerez, for eight years and is bottled at the natural cask strength of 58.3% ABV. It is both non-chill filtered and of natural colour. The cask has yielded just 252 bottles and these will be available from Eden Mill’s store in Market Street, St. Andrew’s and via the Eden Mill website. A bottle will cost £110.
Johnnie Walker
The leading Scotch whisky blend of Johnnie Walker has announced details of its annual bottling that celebrates the Chinese Lunar New Year. The year 2025 is the Year of the Snake and marks an extension of the collaboration between Johnnie Walker and artist James Jean.
The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Lunar New Year 2025: The Year of the Snake features illustrations from Jean, who has also created new artwork for Lunar New Year bottling of John Walker & Sons XR 21 years old. The Blue Label edition is bottled at 40% ABV and will be available in specialist whisky and luxury retailers worldwide. A bottle will cost £225.
Lochlea
The award-winning farm-to-cask distillery of Lochlea in the Lowlands has released a new limited-edition – the Lochlea Stout Cask Finish. It is the first ever single malt from the distillery to feature maturation in such a cask. This has seen Lochlea collaborate with Glasgow-based brewery Overtone.
The Lochlea Stout Cask Finish has seen initial maturation in ex-bourbon, ex-Oloroso sherry and STR (shaved, toasted and re-charred) casks. The whisky has then been finished in ex-stout beer casks supplied by Overtone. It is bottled at 52% ABV and will be avialable exclusively in the UK. You will find it in selected specialist whisky retailers from early December. A bottle will cost £60.
