Gordon & Macphail

The renowned independent bottler Gordon & Macphail has released the fifth and final whisky in its Mr. George Legacy Series. The ultra-rare 70-Year-Old whisky celebrates George Urquhart, who is known as ‘the father of single malt Scotch whisky’. The Mr George Legacy Series 1954 from Glen Grant Distillery honours the single malt whisky pioneer and also marks Gordon & MacPhail’s 130th anniversary. Glen Grant was selected due to George’s affection towards the Speyside distillery.

The whisky was distilled on April 24, 1954, and has been maturing in a first-fill ex-sherry puncheon (Cask no. 1823) for 70 years. it was bottled on January 6, 2025. It is released at the natural cask strength of 50.5% ABV and is available from www.gordonandmacphail.com and selected specialist whisky stores worldwide. There will be just 130 bottles. The price is £8,000.


London Distillery Co.

The London Distillery Company (TLDC) has revealed a new chapter with the release of Renascence – The Revival Release. This is the first new whisky from the trailblazing London craft distillery since its rebirth earlier this year. The whisky has been created from remaining TLDC casks which were produced by the distillery between 2011 and 2020.

The London Distillery Company was established in 2011, and was the first new whisky distillery in the capital since Lea Valley distillery closed in 1903. However, the company entering administration in 2020 and was acquired by Gleann Mòr Spirits in 2023. Matt McKay was appointed as Managing Director & Whisky Maker to lead the revitalisation of TLDC in January 2025.

Renascence (meaning the revival of something that has been dormant) is made using whisky matured in a combination of re-fill barrels and first-fill ex-sherry casks. The whisky is released at 58% ABV and there will be just 410 bottles available. It will be exclusively available from Berry Brothers & Rudd from June 6th. Each bottle will cost £89.


Tormore

The Speyside distillery of Tormore has announced its first three limited edition bottlings under the ownership of Elixir Distillers. The trio form the Blueprint series, which is a precursor to a full brand relaunch in 2026. The series includes three Tormore 10-year-old single malt whiskies, each matured in
different cask types: Bourbon Barrel, Toasted Barrel and Cream Sherry Casks. The initial release is limited to 1,500 bottles of each expression.

The Tormore Blueprint 10 Years Old Bourbon Barrel has been matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. The Blueprint 10 Years Old Toasted Barrel has matured in toasted and charred virgin American oak barrels. The Blueprint 10 Years Old Cream Sherry Casks has been matured in ex-cream sherry casks from Jerez in Spain. Cream sherries are produced by blending a dry sherry such as Oloroso with a sweeter one like Pedro Ximenez. The Tormore Blueprint bottlings are all released at 48% ABV and will cost £60.
