Annandale

The independent Lowland distillery of Annandale has released its first ever 10 year old expressions. The distillery, which only ever releases single cask single malts, celebrated the milestone with a launch dinner at Fortnum & Mason in London. The pair of new whiskies will be available from the distillery and selected specialist whisky retailers in the UK.

The Annandale Man O’Words 10 Years Old is unpeated spirit that has matured in a single first-fill ex-bourbon cask. This cask has yielded just 234 bottles at the natural cask strength of 58.8% ABV. Man O’Words is named in honour of local wordsmith Robert Burns.

The Annandale Man O’Swords 10 Years Old is peated spirit that has also matured in a single first-fill ex-bourbon cask. This has yielded just 224 bottles at 57.9% ABV. Man O’Swords refers to Robert The Bruce, the 7th Lord of Annandale. Both whiskies are non-chill filtered and of natural colour. Each will cost £110.


Chivas Regal

Chivas Brothers have announced their latest travel retail exclusive into the Chivas Regal Ultimate Cask Collection. The Chivas Regal 18 Years Old Pauillac Cask Finish sees the classic blended Scotch finished in ex-Pauillac red wine casks from the esteemed west bank of the Bordeaux wine region in France. It has been created by Sandy Hyslop, the Master Blender for Chivas Regal, and follows the 18 Years Old Margaux Cask Finish.

The new whisky is bottled at 48% ABV and is presented with luxurious gold, purple and white packaging. It is available now in selected airports in selected world regions including the Americas, Asia, India, South East Asia and the UK. The price is £120/ €140 for one litre. Further markets are expected to be introduced later in 2025.


Jameson

The best-selling Irish whiskey brand of Jameson has announced a new expression for its Triple Triple travel retail exclusive range. The Jameson Triple Triple Marsala Cask Edition adds a Sicilian twist to the collection and is the third bottling in the series. It follows the Triple Triple Malaga Edition and Chestnut Edition. Triple Triple refers to the fact that each whiskey is triple distilled in the the traditional Irish style and then matured in three types of cask.

The Jameson Triple Triple Marsala Cask Edition is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels, ex-Oloroso sherry casks, and Marsala casks sourced from Sicily. These have been hand-selected from the renowned Florio winery and released in time for St. Patrick’s Day. It is bottled at 40% ABV and is available now in selected global travel retail locations. A wider launch is expected for later in 2025. A bottle will cost £37/ €44/ US$46.


Scotch Malt Whisky Society

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society have announced the release of two single cask Taiwanese whiskies that were distilled at the same distillery and on the same day. The SMWS 138.31 HIgher Power is described as light and delicate, while SMWS 138.24 Full Throttle Coal Scuttle is a heavier peated expression. Both are five-year-old single malt Taiwanese whiskies, both from the same distillery, both distilled on 30th March 2018, and both matured in first-fill bourbon barrels. The two whiskies have everything in common, except their flavour profile

The 138.31 Higher Power is bottled at 55.2% ABV and the cask has yielded just 190 bottles. The 138.24 Full Throttle Coal Scuttle is bottled at 57.1% ABV and there are just 201 bottles. Both are non-chill filtered and of natural colour. Both will cost £79.50 each.
