The English Distillery

England’s first single malt distillery, The English Distillery in Norfolk, has released a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ whisky with the bottling of its inaugural cask. The English Distillery Cask 001is the oldest English whisky released to date and was distilled in 2006. The cask has been nurtured by Iain Henderson, the Master Distiller for the company, and is the epitomy of founder James Nelstrop’s early vision.

The English Distillery Cask 001 is presented in a hand-blown decanter by Norfolk-based Langham Glass. The whisky is released at the natural cask strength of 54.2% ABV and is both non-chill filtered and of natural colour. There will be just 60 decanters available from late-September this year. Each will cost £3,000.

There is whisky, and then there is Cask 001. This is not just a remarkable spirit, this is a historic artefact. My father built this distillery from a dream and this cask is where it all began. It has slept quietly through the years as we have built our reputation and range, and earned the respect of the whisky world.

The Epicurean

As with all bottlings of The Epicurean, the new whisky is made using only Lowland single malts. This one features three distinct cask types, each adding a different dimension.
