Glenmorangie
The north Highland distillery of Glenmorangie has unveiled a new global marketing campaign and have included a global Hollywood icon to star in it. Once Upon A Time In Scotland sees actor Harrison Ford journey to the home of Glenmorangie in a series of 12 short episodes, which have been directed by film-maker Joel Edgerton. The episodes feature several of the Glenmorangie team including Dr. Bill Lumsden (the Director of Whisky Creation), Gillian Macdonald (the Master Blender) and various distillery staff.
The campaign features two key single malts – The Original 12 Years Old and Infinita 18 Years Old. The 12 episodes focus on the significance of Glenmorangie’s home, its craftsmanship and the people that make its award-winning whiskies. The campaign can be seen globally spanning online video, connected TV, out-of-home formats, experiential, PR and social media. Six episodes and an array of behind-the-scenes content are initially available to view now on www.glenmorangie.com. The remaining six episodes will appear periodically throughout 2025.
Scotch Malt Whisky Society
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society has launched a new collection of four rare highly aged single casks. The Homecoming Collection has seen the Society collaborate with Edinburgh-based artist Shona Hardie. She has used The Vaults, the SMWS’s historic home in Leith as inspiration for the label designs.
All are bottled at their natural cask strength and are available individually (prices range from £195 to £425) or as a set – this will cost £1295. For more information and to purchase – please visit www.smws.com.
The four bottlings are:
- Cask 3.357 ‘Home Is Where The Hearth Is’/ 20 Years Old/ Islay/ 2nd-fill ex-Oloroso sherry hogshead/ 55.7% ABV/ £195
- Cask 35.388 ‘Snug & Toasty’/ 32 Years Old/ Speyside/ 2nd-fill ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry hogshead/ 53.9% ABV/ £325
- Cask 38.43 ‘Bar-Room Buzz’/ 32 Years Old/ Speyside/ 1st-fill ex-Pedro Ximenez barrique/ 49.6% ABV/ £395
- Cask 76.154 ‘Shire Reflections’/ 30 Years Old/ Speyside/ re-fill ex-sherry hogshead/ 52.7% ABV/ £425.
Tailored Spirits Co.
Edinburgh-based whisky bottler Tailored Spirits Co. have announced their inaugural whisky range under the name The Experimental Series. With the bottlings the company aim to ‘redefine tradition’, with a belief that single cask spirits are not just about heritage, but also ‘curiosity, exploration and innovation’. The bottlings feature meticulaously designed labels inspired by travel luggage tags and a bottle inspired by science lab glassware. All bottles are 50cl.
The trio of whiskies include:
- Experiment 1 – Croftengea Loch Lomond 7 Years Old/ heavily peated, matured in a 1st-fill American oak Oloroso Montilla bloodtub/ 58.8% ABV/ 52 bottles/ £59.50
- Experiment 2 – Fettercairn 13 Years Old/ re-racked into a high quality 1st-fill Ribera del Duero Spanish red wine barrique/ 54.1% ABV/ 84 bottles/ £74.50
- Experiment 3 – Ardmore 8 Years Old/ lightly peated, matured in ex-bourbon casks with a re-rack into a 1st-fill European Oak ex-Cognac barrique/ 60.4% ABV/ 60 bottles/ £64.50.
