Glendronach
The Highland distillery of Glendronach has announced the release of a new trio of single malts – Glendronach The Master’s Anthology. The series is designed to showcase the distillery’s use of premium ex-sherry casks, which are sourced from southern Spain, and has been created by Dr. Rachel Barrie – the Master Blender for Glendronach. All three bottlings are non-chill filtered and of natural colour.
The Master’s Anthology kicks off with Glendronach Ode To The Valley and is a celebration of of its home – Glendronach translates as ‘the valley of the brambles’ from local Gaelic. The whisky has been matured in a combination of ex-sherry and ex-Port casks. It is bottled at 46.2% ABV and will cost £67.
Ode To The Embers is a rare peated expression of Glendronach and has been matured in ex-Oloroso and ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The malted barley has been peated using local Highland peat and is released at 48.4% ABV. A bottle will cost £72. Ode To The Dark is the richest whisky of the trio and has been matured solely in ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. It is bottled at 50.8% ABV and will cost £77. The Glendronach The Master’s Anthology is available now in Germany and the UK, and will get a wider world release in early-2025.
Woodford Reserve
The Kentucky bourbon brand of Woodford Reserve has announced the release of its latest Batch Proof bottling. The Woodford Reserve Batch Proof 2024 Edition has been created by Elizabeth McCall, the Master Distiller for the brand. The new release has used whiskeys from over 100 different casks, which are of different ages and taken from different levels within different rickhouses.
The Batch Proof 2024 Edition has been bottled at the natural cask strength of 59.75% ABV (119.5 Proof) and is available in limited quantities now from the distillery shop in Versailles, Kentucky and several key states across the USA. A bottle will cost US$150.
