Bimber

The London distillery of Bimber has announced the launch of the latest in its acclaimed Shoulders of Giants series. This pays homage to the diverse tapestry of thinkers, innovators and visionaries who have shaped our world. There are six single cask bottlings – three exclusive for the UK and three exclusive for Germany. The UK exclusives are inspired by the popular artists Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet and Leonardo da Vinci. The cask details are below:

  • Vincent — The Dreamer | Fino Sherry |Cask Ref: 528/42 | 56.5% ABV | 335 Bottles
  • Claude — The Impressionist | Ex-Bourbon | Cask Ref: 396 | 57% ABV | 279 Bottles
  • Leonardo — The Visionary | Palo Cortado Sherry | Cask Ref: 547/50 | 57.3% ABV | 340 Bottles

The German exclusives are inspired by engineering innovators from the country including Karl Benz, Rudolf Diesel and Nicolaus Otto. The cask details are below:

  • Karl — The Inventor| American Oak Ex-Bourbon | Cask Ref. 462 | 58% ABV | 258 bottles
  • Rudolf — The Engineer | Fino Sherry | Cask Ref. 540/39 | 57.6% ABV | 293 bottles
  • Nicolaus — The Inventor | Oloroso Sherry | Cask Ref. 446 | 57.9% ABV | 297 bottles

The UK exclusives in the Bimber Shoulders of Giants are available now from Bimber’s online shop. Each bottle will cost £95. The German exclusives will be available shortly via the brand’s German distributor, Kirsch Import. The price has not yet been announced.


Meikle Tòir

The Speyside distillery of Glenallachie has unveiled the first-ever single cask additions to its Meikle Tòir range of peated single malts. The pair of whiskies include the Meikle Tòir 2018 Pedro Ximénez Sherry Hogshead, which is a distillery exclusive, and the online exclusive Meikle Tòir 2019 Oloroso Sherry Hogshead. Both single casks have been selected by Billy Walker, the legendary Master Distiller at Glenallachie.

The 2018 Pedro Ximénez Sherry Hogshead is bottled at seven years old and 59.9% ABV with a peat level of 44PPM. It is the inaugural distillery exclusive single cask. There are just 355 bottles. Both are bottled at cask strength and are non-chill filtered and of natural colour. The 2019 Oloroso Hogshead (Cask #8729) is bottled at six years old and 60.5% ABV with a peat level of 47PPM. There are just 357 bottles. It will only be available at www.theglenallachie.com. Both bottles are priced at £75.99.


White Peak

The English distillery of White Peak has announced the third annual bottling in a special series – the Wire Works Necessary Evil Finish Batch 3. The whisky sees the Derbyshire distillery partner with the nearby Thornbridge brewery. This includes maturing their lightly peated single malt in casks that have previously held Thornbridge’s award-winning Necessary Evil stout. The two previous editions, released in 2022 and 2023, both sold out.

The whisky was initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels before a finish in ex-red wine STR (shaved, toasted and recharred) that have been seasoned with the stout beer. The Wire Works Necessary Evil Finish Batch 3 is bottled at the cask strength of 51.3% ABV and is both non-chill filtered and of natural colour. It is available at the distillery shop, via www.whitepeakdistillery.co.uk and in selected specialist whisky retailers in the UK. A bottle will cost £69.
