The London Distillery Co.
The London Distillery Company (TLDC) have proudly announced their latest limited edition release – The London Distillery Company Yesteryear. This is a six year old London rye whisky that uses remaining stock from the brand’s original rye bottling, LV-1767, which was released in 2018. The spirit used was retrieved from glass by new owners Gleann Mòr Spirits and returned to oak barrels to mature for a further two years. This included 18 months in first-fill ex-sherry octaves and then six months in a re-fill ex-sherry quarter cask.

The London Distillery Company Yesteryear consists of just 188 bottles and these are available from today (Nov 14) from the TLDC website. The six-year-old rye whisky is designed to embody London’s dual identity – steeped in tradition, yet unafraid to reinvent itself. It is released at 52.3% ABV and is both non-chill filtered and of natural colour. A bottle will cost £69.95.
Mortlach
The Speyside distillery of Mortlach has announced the first bottling in a new series of single malts – the Mortlach Neverbound Collection. The series is designed to push whisky making to the edge of what is possible through flavour, cask, and craft. For the inaugural bottling, French oak casks featuring staves that had been air-dried in France’s Cognac region for four years were used for a finishing period. This is the first time such oak has been used for Mortlach. Initial maturation was in American oak ex-bourbon casks.

The new whisky has been created by Dr. Craig Wilson, the Master Blender for Mortlach. Expect forthcoming bottlings to join Release 01 in the series. The Mortlach Neverbound Collection Release 01 is bottled at 50.8% ABV and will be available in selected world markets only. This includes the global travel retail sector and several markets in Asia – Hong Kong & Macau, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam. A bottle will cost US$120.

The Tomatin 10 Years Old will be introduced to further grocery retailers in other world markets next year. It is bottled at 40% ABV and will retail for £42.
