Lochlea

The Lowland distillery of Lochlea has announced the forthcoming release of its oldest ever single malt. The Lochlea 7 Years Old is limited edition and is created from just seven first-fill ex-bourbon casks. These were distilled and filled in 2018. As with all Lochlea whiskies, every grain of barley used in production was grown on Lochlea Farm where the distillery is located.

The Lochlea 7 Years Old will be released on January 23 and in time for annual Burns Night celebrations. Robert Burns lived and worked at Lochlea Farm between 1777 and 1784 until his father’s death. The whisky is bottled at 50% ABV and is both non-chill filtered and of natural colour. It will be available via whisky specialists and independent retailers in the UK and selected international markets. A bottle will cost £90/ US$120.

Tomatin

The award-winning Highland distillery of Tomatin has launched a limited edition single cask single malt to mark the Lunar New Year. The Tomatin Year of The Horse 2026 Edition has been matured in a single ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry bota gorda cask. This is larger than a standard sherry butt or puncheon and was sourced from a bodega in Jerez, Spain. This special cask has yielded 817 bottles and was selected by James Muir, the Distillery Manager at Tomatin.
