Welcome to Inbox, our weekly round-up of whisky news and PR material that has found its way into our WFE email. Inbox features items from around the world of whisky and is published by us each Friday. Here is this week’s whisky news.
London Distillery Co.
The London Distillery Company (TLDC) has announced the release of the first ever 10-year-old single malt from the UK capital. The TLDC Ten Times Around The Sun has been taken from a single ex-bourbon cask, which was just the seventh cask filled by the company. The whisky was made using Quench spring barley in October 2015. The release features artwork inspired by the single malt’s decade of maturation, capturing 10 complete orbits around the sun.

The TLDC Ten Times Around The Sun is limited to just 220 bottles and is bottled at 51.4% ABV. It is both non-chill filtered and of natural colour. The whisky will be available to purchase on February 27 via the TLDC website. Each bottle will cost £89.95.
This release is a tangible piece of London’s whisky history, surviving the distillery’s closure in 2019 and now emerging as a symbol of our return. This is a whisky born of our past, shaped by our revival, and confidently demonstrating our bold, bright future.

Redbreast
The Irish single pot still brand of Redbreast has announced the latest bottling in their Iberian Series. The Redbreast Moscatel Wine Cask Edition is the fifth bottling in the series. The original maturation is in ex-bourbon and Redbreast’s signature ex-Oloroso sherry casks, before a 16-month finishing period in European oak ex-Moscatel wine casks. These have been sourced from the Bodegas Quitapenas in Málaga, Spain.

The Redbreast Moscatel Wine Cask Edition is bottled at 46% ABV. It follows the Pedro Ximenez Edition, Lustau Edition, Tawny Port Cask Edition and Cuatro Barilles Edition in the series. The new bottling is initially available from the Redbreast website and selected UK retailers, before a wider global launch. A bottle will cost $US110/ €95/ £85.
Spirit of Yorkshire
The Spirit of Yorkshire distillery in Hunmanby near Scarborough has announced the creation of its first ever core range of English single malts. Two new bottlings will appear under the Filey Bay name and join the Flagship expression. The first is the Filey Bay Moscatel Sherry Cask and features full maturation in ex-Moscatel sherry casks sourced from southern Spain. The other is the Filey Bay STR Red Wine Cask and has been fully matured in shaved, toasted and recharred ex-red wine barrels.

Both whiskies are released at 47.3% ABv and are both non-chill filtered and of natural colour. Both are single estate and field to bottle. They are made using barley grown on the ownership’s farm, as are all Filey Bay whiskies. The new whiskies are available from the distillery website and selected UK specialist retailers now. A wider roll out in selected world markets will happen over the coming months. Each bottle will cost £65.
