Fettercairn

The Highland distillery of Fettercairn has launched a new limited edition single malt that will be only available at the distillery shop. The Fettercairn Distillers’ Secret has seen the brand collaborate with local brewery Six°North and is a marriage of just two casks.

The first is a first-fill ex-bourbon barrel distilled and filled in 2007. The second is an ex-Cabernet Sauvignon red wine barrel sourced from Bordeaux, France. This was filled with Six°North pale ale in 2019, then emptied and filled with Fettercairn spirit. This was also distilled in 2007 and had been maturing in an ex-bourbon cask. Now four years on, the two casks have been combined to create Distillers’ Secret.

The Fettercairn Distillers’ Secret is restricted to just 318 bottles and is released at 54.9% ABV. The whisky is both non-chill filtered and of natural colour. It is only on sale at the Fettercairn distillery in the east Highlands. Bottles are limited to two per customer with each costing £125.

Glasgow 1770

The Glasgow Distillery Co. has announced a special limited bottling that will be exclusive to The Whisky Shop retail chain. The Glasgow 1770 The Whisky Shop Exclusive is a 9-year-old peated single malt. This was initially matured for three years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, with a secondary maturation of six years and three months in a virgin American white oak hogshead. This has yielded just 180 bottles.

The Glasgow 1770 The Whisky Shop Exclusive is released at 54% ABV and is both non-chill filtered and of natural colour. It will only be on sale at The Whisky Shop’s two Glasgow stores at Buchanan Galleries and Princes Square. Buchanan Galleries will also showcase a special window display to celebrate the limited edition release. Each bottle will cost £85.

Rare Find

The independent bottling company of Rare Find has released a milestone whisky to mark the culmination of their 10th anniversary year. The Rare Find Caol Ila 42 Years Old is a single cask release that was originally distilled at the Islay distillery in the early 1980s. The bottling is a hat tip to Rare Find’s first ever release, which was also from Caol Ila.

The whisky is drawn from re-fill ex-bourbon hogshead (Cask #1288). It is bottled at the natural strength of 51.7% ABV and is both non-chill filtered and of natural colour.. There are just 42 bottles available and these can be purchased from selected Rare Find stockists in the UK from mid-December. Each bottle will cost £999.
